October 2011 - Selected for New Zealand Camera 2012
Lac de Soustons has been selected by the Photographic Society of New Zealand (PSNZ) to be published in the 'coffee-table' book New Zealand Camera 2012. The book is due for distribution in February 2012 and a link to the PSNZ Home Page can be found on my Links page.
October 2011 - New Zealand and the Ocean: A Love Affair - My latest book is now available through the Blurb Bookstore.
This beautiful book contains a selection of my images from New Zealand and is available in small square 7" x 7" and large square 12" x 12" formats with many choices of cover type and paper available. It can also be ordered directly from me via email.
August 2011 - IPA~International Photography Awards / Lucie Foundation - Winning Seven Honorable Mentions!
Seven of my images have won awards in the 2011 IPA~International Photography Awards. Parlementia Beach Study 1, Pancake Rocks Study 1, Parlementia Beach Study 2, Passing Boat on Milford Sound, Piha Study 2, Archway Islands and Orewa Beach Rocks were all awarded Honorable Mentions in the Fine Art - Landscape category.
The mission of the IPA is: To salute the achievements of the world's finest photographers, to discover new and emerging talent, and to promote the appreciation of photography.
The International Photography Awards is a sister-effort of the Lucie Foundation, where the top three winners are announced at the annual Lucie Awards ceremony. Over 8,000 submissions from 90 countries were received for the 2011 International Photography Awards with over 70 jurors, the largest to date.
IPA is dedicated to recognizing contemporary photographers' accomplishments in this specialized and highly visible competition.

June 2011 - Three Award Winning Images
Three of my images have won awards in the 2011 North Shore National Salon of Photography competition. This is a prestigious national photographic competition and exhibition. The award winning images in the Digital Monochrome Projected Open section are 'Pancake Rocks Study 1', Highly Commended, 'Parlementia Beach Study 1', Acceptance and 'Parlementia Beach Study 2', Acceptance.
All of these images will be on display in the Salon Exhibition which is to be staged at Canon's Head Office, Akoranga Business Park, Northcote, Auckland from July 11th to July 22nd 2011. A link to the Salon's Home Page can be found on my Links page.
June 2011 - Prix de la Photographie, Paris - Px3
Eleven Official Selections from six images!
Pancake Rocks Study 1 and five other images have been be included in the Px3 Official Selection for 2011 in the Fine Art, Landscape, Nature and Still Life categories.
The jury which consists of leading editors, publishers, curators, gallery owners, consultants, creative directors, and art directors's will make their final selection for awards next week and I have my fingers crossed!
From the Px3 website - The "Prix de la Photographie, Paris" (Px3) strives to promote the appreciation of photography, to discover emerging talent, and introduce photographers from around the world to the artistic community of Paris.
CameraArts magazine claims the "Px3 is Europe's biggest and most prestigious photography competition".
May 2011 - Black & White Spider Awards
Orewa Beach Rocks was chosen as a Nominee in the Fine Art, Landscape section.
The jury panel is made up of many highly respected names in photography including members of the Tate Gallery, Sothebys Institute of Art and Magnum Photos.
"The Black and White Spider Awards are the leading international award honoring black and white photography. This celebrated event shines a spotlight on the best professional and amateur photographers in a prestigious annual competition and globally webcast event."

Wharariki Beach has been selected by the Photographic Society of New Zealand (PSNZ) to be published in the 'coffee-table' book New Zealand Camera 2011. This year a record number of 357 PSNZ members submitted 688 images and the judges chose 182 of these images for inclusion in the book. The book is due for distribution in February 2011 and to quote the PSNZ "this year’s Editorial Team are confident the 2011 edition is going to be the best one yet." August 2010 - IPA~International Photography Awards / Lucie Foundation - Three Honorable Mentions
Three of my images have won awards in the 2010 IPA~International Photography Awards. Erakor Lagoon and Entrance to Gulf Harbour received Honorable Mentions in the Fine Art - Landscape category and Waitemate Harbour has received an Honorable Mention in the Architecture - Cityscapes category.
The mission of the IPA is: To salute the achievements of the world's finest photographers, to discover new and emerging talent, and to promote the appreciation of photography. This year's entries spanned 103 countries worldwide with approximately 15,000 submissions. Jurors had the challenging task of reducing that number to just 330 winners.
July 2010 - Six Award Winning Images
Six of my images have won awards in the 2010 North Shore National Salon of Photography competition. This is a prestigious national photographic competition and exhibition. The award winning images are Archway Islands and Waitemate Harbour in the Digital Monochrome Projected Open section and The Jamie Seddon, Kotanui Island, Entrance to Gulf Harbour and Orewa Beach Channel Marker in the Digital Projected Set Subject 'Movement' section.
All of these images will be on display in the Salon Exhibition which is to be staged at Canon's Head Office, Northcote, Auckland from July 12th to July 23rd 2010. A link to the Salon's Home Page can be found on my Links page.

Orewa Beach Rocks has been selected to represent the Photographic Society of New Zealand (PSNZ) in the 2010 Four Nations Competition held annually between New Zealand, Australia, Canada and South Africa. This year the judging will be performed by the Photographic Society of South Africa and the results are due to be announced in September 2010. In total 275 images were submitted and 100 of these chosen to represent the PSNZ.
May 2010 - Dates are now confirmed for the exhibition of my work at the Auckland Festival of Photography
The dates for the exhibition are June 3rd to June 17th at the Monmo Gallery in Orewa. Please see my Exhibitions page for more details. I will be exhibiting a number of prints on a range of media including Ilford Gold Fibre Silk Fine Art Paper, 100% Rag Fine Art paper and Canvas.
March 2010 - Champion Image and Gold Medal - Recognition of Excellence
Orewa Beach Rocks has been chosen as the Champion Monochrome Projected Image in the 2010 New Zealand Canon National Exhibition and awarded a Gold Medal by the Photographic Society of New Zealand. Canon NZ will also be producing a large print of this image for display at the NATEX Convention in Nelson April 2010. A link to the NATEX Convention can be found on my Links page.
February 2010 - 2nd Gallery To Exhibit Prints
The Monmo Gallery in Orewa on the Hibiscus Coast will be exhibiting a number of my prints in June during the Auckland Festival of Photography 2010. The Monmo Gallery is a "unique fullservice galllery that is all about celebrating excellence in art." There is a link to the Monmo Gallery on my Links page.
December 2009 - Gallery Opens
The images presented on this web site are now on display in a Private Gallery on the Hibiscus Coast, North of Auckland. All of the images on display are sized at 13 x 13", professionally mounted, matted and framed. Please make contact for further details and opening times.
November 2009 - New Zealand Camera 2010 now available for purchase
"A Showcase of Outstanding Photographic Images from the Photographic Society of New Zealand". The book, New Zealand Camera 2010 showcases 181 exquisite and spectacular images and includes my award winning photograph, Erakor Lagoon, on
page 64. The book was designed and printed by The Caxton Press, Christchurch, New Zealand. ISBN 978-0-473-15300-7 and ISSN 1177-2417.

This year 326 PSNZ members submitted 649 images and the judges chose 181 of these images for inclusion in the book. The book is due from the printers in October and to quote the PSNZ "We are confident that the quality of this year's book will at least equal previous editions.
